A Thuismitheoirí agus a bhuachaillí,

Is beag deis a bhí againn mar fhoireann chun prapáil a dhéanamh nuair a tháinig an fógra dúnadh na scoile ón Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna Déardaoin seo imithe tharainn agus anois táim ag cur peann le páipéar.

Ar an gcéad dul síos ag tacú le treoracha na Roinne cuireamar na buachaillí abhaile Déardaoin le leabhra agus sceideal oibre go bhféadfaidís tabhairt fé leo féin ,ar a luas féinig agus go neamhspleách.

Thíos anso tá liosta suíomhanna oideachasúla,cuid acu saor in aisce go bhféadfadh na buachaillí  leas a bhaint astu ag a baile.

As the announcement of closure came last Thursday with little time to prepare; I have now had the chance to gather my thoughts and put pen to paper.

Firstly, in keeping with the advice from the Department of Education, we sent home books and a work schedule for the boys to do, which we felt they could all do independently and at their own pace.

Below is a list of some very useful educational free online websites with which the boys will be able to engage:

Of course the older classes could read www.tuairisc.ie and listen to an Nuacht ar an teilifís/raidió

A+maths is cloud based and can be accessed from home

Skellig experience visitor centre are hosting a Star Wars art competition if any boy would like to draw/colour a Star Wars themed picture. There are no guidelines only that they ask the boys to be as creative and artistic as possible. The deadline for the competition is April 30th.

There is also an essay competition on climate change;’How we can save our planet’ which should be emailed to me at scoiliognaidris@gmail.com before March 25th.

I would really love if the boys could write a persuasive letter for the attention of carambola and email it to the school address before March 25th imploring them to change the packaging of the lunches from plastic to an environmental alternative.

Tá ár saol agus saol an domhain á n-athrú go laethúil ó bhonn ag géarchéim an choróinvíris ach ní thiocfaidh an tír seo slán as, murar bhfuilimid ag tacú agus ag treacbhadh  le chéile.Thar aon rud eile caithfimid ar fad aire a thabhairt dá chéile agus faire amach go háirithe dóibhsan is mó atá i mbaol ón ngalar. Is ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.

Finally, we are aware that this is an unprecedented time of challenge for all of us.‘Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine’-we all live in each other’s shadow. If there was ever a time for us to appreciate how closely we are connected, how much what we do matters, how much we rely on each other, this is it. This is a time where we need to work together, to look out for each other as the support of everyone ‘meitheal daoine ag obair le chéile’ is vital as we strive to ensure that this crisis is dealt with as effectively and as rapidly as possible.

Is mise le meas,
